A New Voice for Harrisonburg Schools
A New Voice for Harrisonburg Schools
A longtime high school lacrosse coach, Matt and his family moved to Harrisonburg in 2017 to put down roots, and since relocating to the Shenandoah Valley, Matt has served as a volunteer coach at James Madison University.
Matt also spends much of his time volunteering with the Backpack Coalition — a supplemental weekend food program for school children in need. These bags contain a combination of foods ready for consumption by children and other groceries for meals to be prepared by adults. Matt served as PTO President for four years.
Matt graduated with his bachelor’s degree from Kennesaw State in 2005 and is certified both as a youth sports administrator and Special Olympics coach. Matt’s wife, Sara, is a professor at JMU’s College of Education, and the couple has two children in elementary school in the city.
